Hard work = Progress

Last year we put these grow beds in with the plans of putting gravel around them.  We didn't get to it last year, but jumped on it early this year.  We hired some men to come weed our back yard and we wanted to get the gravel down before the weeds came back.
So Saturday Das got a move on it.  The whole section behind him will also be filled with gravel.  I tried to get out and get some weeds up along there as much as my body would allow.
Ashton loves to help.  Even though he doesn't quite do a whole lot....we love his motivation and determination to work hard.
Das laid down some weed blocker before the gravel.
The finished look.  We have put in so much time in our yard.  It looks amazing.  I will be sad when we sell it.

Conference Weekend

Das printed out some bingo boards for the boys to play during  conference.  Tristan was a poor sport about losing the first game, but Ashton enjoyed it.  And they all of course enjoyed the candy as well.  It was a really great weekend.  And many great talks!

After our 5K, we had a bunch of topsoil, and gravel waiting for us.  It didn't look like a lot, but it took us all day to get it off the driveway.  Plus Logan didn't help much.  Luckily he took a two hour nap and we were able to put a dent in our soil.
Ashton on the other hand, was more then helpful.  He was out most of the time with us pulling weeds and shoveling soil.  I told him I would by him a slushy for being such a big helper.  He told Tristan and Tristan decided he wanted to help.  Tristan likes to look like he is doing something, when he really isn't.  He and Ashton couldn't be more different.

Das is such a hard worker.  I am hurting today, so I can only guess he is too.  And he got fried!  But I don't hear him complain.  I have such an amazing husband.
Around 4 o'clock, our neighbor came over with his two boys, and another wheelbarrow to help us out.  It is so great to have such wonderful neighbors.  We sure do love them!  I am glad we got all the soil down before the rain/snow today.  Now its time for the gravel. Ugh!

Run 4 Love

Saturday morning we went to support our friend Mia Love who is running for congress.  They were doing a 5k that we signed up for.  It started at 9 AM and the wind was a bit chilly.

It was a great turn out.  After a few words from Mia, everyone lined up for the run.

Tristan and Ashton saw all the goodies they had out on the table for those who finished the race and were excited to run.  They took off with the rest of the group, leaving Das and I in their dust.  About a half mile in, a tire on our stroller popped.  I was worried about the boys getting lost, so I kept on going as hard as it was climbing the hills ahead of me.  I got to a corner and asked the people on the corner if they saw the boys.  The reassured me that they were with the group and running fast.  Das caught up to me with Logan on his shoulders.  I probably would have turned back....but that's my husband for you.  He's not a quitter.  And he wanted to see how I felt carrying that extra weight for 3 miles

We got to the end of the run where the boys were waiting for us.  Everyone said they did such a good job keeping up.  I am very proud of them.  They headed straight for the goodies and I headed to sit down while Das went to get the stroller.  We love Mia Love and are behind her 100%!

Grandparents Day

Today was Grandparents Day for Tristan.  He has been so excited to have Grandma and Grandpa come to his school and see him perform.  Tristan and Ashton don't have any other living Grandparents, so my parents are extra special to them.  And it really means a lot to me that my parents make time for each of their grandchildren.  All 34 of them.  Tristan did such a cute job.  He kept making faces though that worried me.  When I asked him about it, he said he was popping his ears.  I think it has become one of those habbits that we will have to work on getting rid of.  But I was very proud of him today.  Afterward my parents took him to the book fair and bought them each a book.  Thanks Mom and Dad for making him feel special.

Cousin Time

Saturday night after the festival, Das headed to play poker with a bunch of his buddies.  I decided it would be fun for Tristan and Ashton to have over their cousins.
Mark and Alysa dropped the triplets off around dinner time.  Das had picked up Little Caesar's for us before he left.  The weather was nice outside, so they spent most of their time on the tramp.

But once the sun went down, they came inside to turn on some Netflix.  Their children were so well behaved and always play so nice with my boys.  Funniest part of the night....They were watching an educational show about the ocean.  A bunch of dolphins were shown swimming.  Will says, "wanna know how male dolphins make the girl dolphins fall in love with them?  They jump out of the water on top of the girls." LOL  I guess saw something like this recently while whale watching in Hawaii.  Too funny!  They all had a great night.

Festival of Colors!

My mother in law, Susan(who is currently in India) called Das up last week and thought it would be fun for us to check out the Hare Krishna Festival in Spanish Fork this weekend.  She used to take Das and his siblings down there when they were younger and before the temple was built.
We decided it would be a very neat thing to show the kids.  So we called up Das's siblings to get them to come.  Rama and Keli were the only ones that were able to make it.  Next year hopefully they can all come.  We really enjoyed ourselves.
We left early Saturday and got there before it got too crazy.  And it got crazy!  The moment we walked in, we had chalk thrown on us.  This I didn't expect.  But it was coming from all directions.  The boys didn't know what to think.
But as soon as Das purchased them their own bags of chalk, they couldn't get enough.
Ashton though being the clean freak he is....kept cleaning himself and the stroller off.  Then he would be right back in the bag of chalk.  Funny boy!

Das, Keli, and her friend went down into the crowd where the music was.  Rama, me and the boys stayed on top of the hill to observe.

Every two hours they do a throwing of the colors.  It was pretty dang cool to watch.  Das was in the middle of it all and came back looking like this.  He said it was hard to breath and see anything. But the chalk was also scented and the aroma filled the air.

After the throwing we indulged in some Indian food.  I must admit....it was really good.  I wasn't sure what I was eating....but I would definitely like to cook some of it up.  The boys scarfed theirs down as well.

I think people were very reluctant to throw chalk on me as soon as they saw the big belly.  But Tristan and Ashton weren't afraid of getting me.

After we ate, it was time to take off.  Logan was getting grouchy and needed his afternoon siesta.  He was out before we even left the grounds.  It was really neat for us to experience Das's roots.  His mother I am sure will be so proud that we made it.  Not ready to convert just yet though. lol  I think I will keep my current religion. But next year you will definitely be seeing us there again.
