Fiesta Con Amigos

It was that time again.  Dinner club with our friends.  This month was Frank and Joanna's turn to host.  They just bought a beautiful home in Holladay.....errr...I mean East Millcreek?  Is that better Frank?*Comment he left.  But for the record....I'm not sure that it really matters. lol
We got a sitter for Tristan and Ashton, but took Logan with us.
Everyone was able to make it.  The food was delicious and company was wonderful as usual.   I need those recipes!
It was being hosted during the Utah/BYU game, so they were sure to have the tv on so we could watch.  Das and I had it recorded at home though just in case.
After everyone filled their bellies, we moved into the family room for a good game of Werewolves.  I am sure it is a fun game, but we weren't able to stay to find out.  It seems we are always a half hour later coming home then we tell our sitter we will be.
Logan sat o Kelly's lap during the whole game.  And then he fell asleep in her arms.
We had a fantastic time!  Thanks Pedrozza's for having us in your lovely home.  Looking forward to the next dinner club.

Utah vs. BY Who? Go UTES

I text my nephew Taylor Friday night and asked him if he wanted to help me paint the U sign on my front lawn with spray paint.  He was down for it.
So Saturday afternoon he and his girlfriend Paige pulled up at my house already sporting Ute flags from his car.  I pulled out the spray paint and he got to work.  All though I hadn't bought nearly enough, so we had to make a trip to the store.

After he did his outline, Paige and I helped him fill it in.  I believe it took around 12 cans of spray paint.  So worth it though.  We will definitely be doing it again next year.

Das was just getting home from his bike ride and had to take a shower for our night out.  I took the boys out for some pics in their Utah gear.  Some neighbors came out showing their love for our sign, while others wanted to grab their mowers.  I love the fun little wars between the neighbors.  Maybe next year BYU fans.

Das went out after the game with the left over spray paint and marked the score.
54-10

Saturday Lunch

Das signed himself up to participate in the Salt to Saint bike ride.  This was him soaked after his first leg.  It was strange having him gone for the night.  I've gotten so use to him being home.  We definitely missed him, all though it was only one night.  He will blog more about his adventures when he receives the pics.  I am very proud of him though.  I don't think I could have made it through.
Since he wasn't going to be home until Saturday evening, I got together with my bff Amy and went to my favorite place...The Spaghetti Factory.  Tristan ate his food and Ashton's.  And then he ate his ice cream....and then Ashton's. lol  Oink Oink!
It as delicious as always, and wonderful spending time with Amy and her little girl Adyson.  All though, Adyson is 5 months older than Logan.....she is just a little thing.  She is a very happy little girl and Logan was quite entertained by her.  Tristan and Ashton were so concerned about her climbing the stairs.  Tristan was especially protective.  I think its time for another baby.  A girl would be nice....but I doubt it will happen.  I do love my boys though.  They are the best boy ever.

October Fest

A couple of weeks ago Das's good friend Dan came into town with his cute girlfriend Angie.
Dan decided to get a room up at Snowbird since Angie hadn't been to Utah before and he wanted to show her the mountains.  Their room was the top floor and looked down into the lobby.  The boys thought they would be cute and make paper airplanes to throw down.  The planes dropped straight to the ground. lol
Dan had no idea that October Fest was going on the same exact time.  It worked out perfect for them.  Dan invited Das and I up for dinner and to meet Angie.  But unfortunately we couldn't work out a sitter.  So we went up for lunch instead.

I have only been to October Fest once or twice before many many years ago.  And I never had a chance to try the food.  We all got brats with sauerkraut and potato pancakes. YUMMY!
We were fortunate to grab a great seat and sat back to enjoy the entertainment and food.

I love watching all the people dressed up dancing.  Especially the really old ones that can barely even move.

Afterward we walked around the shops and shared stories.  And got to know Angie a little better.
It was so beautiful up there!  I wish we took more advantage of living by these gorgeous mountains.
Dan and Angie make a perfect couple.  I really enjoyed getting to know her better, and hope we get to see them again soon.
We were going to take the lift up and ride the zip line or alpine slide down, but the line was to long, so we just rode it up and took off.    We had a great time and thanks Dan for inviting us up!

Another weekend gone.....

Yesterday Das and Tristan came in with arm fulls of tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and jalapenos.  So I started to look for recipes to use them all.

On Pinterest.com, they have so many fun and yummy recipes.  I came across a baked Parmesan tomato recipe.

You slice the tomatoes in half, sprinkle with salt, pepper, oregano, fresh Parmesan cheese, and a splash of olive oil.  Then bake at 450 for 15 minutes.  They look delicious....but they were just OK.  Probably be better with mozzarella and basil on top.  I will try that next time.
Next I found a baked zucchini sticks with a sweet onion dip.  After slicing the zucchini, you sprinkle with salt and let sit for an hour. This method helps the zucchini to sweat out moisture.

You then dip into egg and roll in the mixture.(Parmesan, Italian spices, and panko bread crumbs.)  Cook at 450 for 15 minutes.
The dip was really tasty.  You caramelize onions and then mix in food processor with apple cider, mustard, mayo, and olive oil.  I will definitely be making it again.

My favorite.....chocolate chip zucchini bread.

Touchdown!
So far, I have learned a great deal about football and I am actually enjoying it.  The U game was a good game last night.  So close!  Looking forward to the games today and to see how I do in my first week of fantasy football.  Unfortunately I don't have an Bears players on my team.  And I have the QB on the opposing team they are playing today.  Should be fun to watch.
Also on pinterest.com I came across a fun tutorial to make your hair wavy.  You are suppose to twist it while it is wet and sleep on it.  I just was playing around late last night and did it dry.  I liked the end result.  Next time I will try it wet, and put a little more effort into it.

It was Das's turn to teach primary today.  I stayed home with Ashton since he keeps getting a fever and I don't want to take him out.  I have such an awesome husband.  He is so good to us.  Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.  I know I am!

Our Brave Little Guy

A few months ago Ashton had his 5 year check up.  The doctor said his tonsils were extremely large and asked is he had a tough time sleeping.  In fact...he had.  He has always been a heavy breather, and snores.  The doctor recommended having his tonsils removed.  He said it would probably also cure his bed wetting.  The doctor said that Ashton was not reaching his REM's and would be a lot happier after the surgery.

This morning we woke up before the sun came up and headed to the Avenues Surgical Center.  Das took the day off work to watch Logan and get Tristan off to school.

When we arrived, Ashton was in good spirits.  He was looking forward to Popsicles, ice cream, and missing school.  He was more concerned about people seeing him in his Jammie's then the surgery.

The nurse came in and gave Ashton some medicine to relax him.  Within 5 minutes he was feeling REAL good.   I had him on my lap the whole time and he kept trying to climb off but his whole body would flop forward and he couldn't get back up.  He thought it was so funny.  Several times he would say, "WOW."  Or would ask what Tristan was doing here.  Then when I told him no one was in there he would laugh.  Then at times he would get so serious.  If anyone has ever seen the little boy on YouTube that just had his teeth pulled....that was Ashton today.  All though, Ashton couldn't even talk.
Twenty minutes later they came with the wagon to take him to surgery.  They wheeled him away with a huge smile on his face the whole time.
He was not a happy camper afterwards obviously.  He was still slurring his speech and was crying cuz it hurt so bad.  Once he was ready to go, we headed home and he slept the whole way.
We got home and I tried to get him to go back to sleep.  But he was feeling fantastic and had his clothes on by the time I got back from picking up his meds.  He wanted to go to the neighbors to play.
I got him to sit on the couch with me for a while, but still he wouldn't sleep.  When Tristan came home from school, they played some cards for a while.  Then all the sudden they were no where to be found.  I ran outside and here come Tristan and Ashton riding down the street on their bikes.  I yelled to get their butts inside.  Ashton looked sick at this point.  He hasn't left the couch since, but still hasn't slept.  He has been so good and I am sure I would be a lot worse off.
