That's What Boys are Made of...

Hand print on cupboards, and shoes in the hall.
Toilet Seats up, and there's mud on the wall.

Every sports channel to them will appeal,
and the front room doubles as a football field.

The shelves in the kitchen are continually bare.
There's toy on the couch, and jeans on the chair.

Wrestling and mud and cars and noise;
I'm sure you can tell I'm the MOTHER OF BOYS!

We had our 20 week ultrasound this week.  And they again did confirm that we are having another wonderful little boy.  I am the baby of 8 children.  I have 6 sisters and 1 brother.  Where does the boy fall?  Just right above me.  So my father(bless his heart) had 6 GIRLS before they got a boy.  Then my sisters started having children.  Girls? No! Boys?  Lots of them!  My oldest sister had 4 boys, and then a girl, and one more boy.  The next sister down had 6 BOYS!  The rest got a fair mixture.  Except my brother....who had triplet BOYS!  So out of 34 grandchildren....only 12 are girls.  4 of those girls belonging to my sister Dianne, who has no boys.  So having another boy isn't a shock for us.  We are just as thrilled as ever.  I get asked a lot if I am disappointed.  At first...I was a little.  But then I had a really good conversation with my mom.  She said, "When we found out our 7th child was going to be a boy, Grandpa Weidner proudly announced to the world that his son had finally done it and had gotten a boy."  My mother wondered what was wrong with all her little girls she loved so dearly.  My mother went on to tell me that she didn't keep having children to try for a boy, but she kept having them because she loved children and new this was her family.  I also get asked if we will have another baby...."to try for a girl."  Right now the answer is no.  But I can't guarantee we won't have another baby.  Not to "try for a girl" though.  But because I love children.  I love MY children.  And if the Lord sees fit to send me a 5th boy...I will gladly except.  I feel so blessed to be the mother of these amazing little guys.  They are what makes my world go round.  And if I can raise them to be half the man my father is and my husband...then my job will be complete.  As my father put his arm around me he said, "boys make great missionaries" I felt even more blessed to have the opportunity to teach these boys the gospel.  And if Das and I can teach them well and to respect the women in their lives....someday I will have wonderful daughter in laws.

There are these boys who stole my heart.
They call me MOM!

Super Bowl Sunday Fun!

We had such a great time this year doing Fantasy Football with our friends.  So we decided to end it with a Super Bowl Party.  Our house isn't enourmous, but we were ready to take on the chaos.  And to be honest....it wasn't nearly as chaotic as we were expecting.
Everyone showed up a little before four with their food to share.  Mia Love painted her girls faces.  So cute!
Das had put a brisket on the smoker as soon as we got home from church.  And everyone else brought snacks to share.  They were tasty.  I did my sausage dip, salsa(which I forgot to put out.) and guacomole.  We had seven layer dips, minnie sausages, deviled eggs, jello.
Das's brisket wasn't cooking as fast as we'd planned, so we snacked throughout the game and then had that as an extra treat later on.
We had the Johannasens(with their 3 kids) The Love's(3 kids) and the Mansourri's(2kids). Unfortunately the Williams weren't able to make it due to sick kids.:(  They were missed.  As well as their pay up money for fantasy. lol
All of the kids were very entertained and behaved themselves.
As did the adults.:)
Das had also put together a question game for everyone, with a dollar buy in.  With questions like who would win the coin toss.  Kevin took home that special prize of $9.  I was close to it.
We enjoyed the game except for we all were wanting the Patriots to win.  Comercials were so so.  And Madonna was pretty great herself.
We never really get pictures of ourselves....so here you have it.    The hosts of our first Super Bowl Party of many to come.To the best of friends for making football more exciting for me this year and for finishing it off with a bang...Looking forward to next season.
